होगा की ये और कुछ नही ... बल्कि आई.आई.टी. मद्रास है....आप में से कई लोग छुट्टियों में मद्रास घूम आये होंगे... मद्रास के साथ ही दक्सिन के अन्य सेहेर भी अलौकिक एवं देखने लायक हे...यहाँ के बाग़-बगीचे,,छात्र-छाया में रस्नावित घाट एवं पहाड़ी इलाके.. हैं..जो हरियाली से फले-फुले रहते हैं....मद्रास सेहेर के मध्यांतर २ नदियाँ बहती हैं...कूवम नदी और अद्यार नदी...तीसरी आती है कोर्टलीयर नदी..जो महानगर के उत्तरी इलाकों से होते हुए एन्नोर स्थित समुद्र में पलायन कर जाती है......अन्नोर की खाड़ी का द्रुस्य भी सौंदर्य की छाह में फुले नहीं समाता हे....
सन १९५९ में पश्चिम जर्मनी की सरकार द्वारा भारत के उद्विघ्न संस्थानों के उत्थान के उपलक्स में ३ वर्सिय योजना के दौरान आई.आई.टी मद्रास को तकनीकी एवं आर्थिक सम्बद्धता प्रदान की गयी......सन १९६६ में सय्युक्त राष्ट्र में हुई बैठक में आई.आई.टी संस्थानों को दुनियाभर के तमाम तकनिकी संस्थानों में से सर्वश्रेष्ठ घोसित करा......आई.आई.टी में दाखिल होने के लिए ३ प्रवेस परिक्सायें देनी होती है....प्री-ग्रेजुएसन जिसे हम जाइंट एंट्रंस एक्जाम के नाम से जानते हे,,,,सबसे कठिन एवं जटिल परिक्सायों में से एक है....१५०००० विद्यार्थियों में से कुल ८००० का चयन होता है.....यदि आप आई.आई.टी से एम्.टेक. की डिग्री हाज़िल करने के लिए इच्छुक हैं...तो दीजिये गेट पोस्ट-ग्रेजुएसन एंट्रेंस एक्जाम ..... .इसके साथ ही जी.आर.इ//जी-मेट के जरिये भी आप आई.आई,टी तक पहुच सकते हो......
सन १९५९ में आई.आई.टी मद्रास का इनाग्रेसन प्रोफ़ेसर हुमायूँ कबीर ने किया,,जो की यूनियन आफ साइंटिफिक रिसर्च एंड कल्चरल अफेयर्स के मिनिस्टर हें....यहाँ तकरीबन ४५० फेकल्टीज,,४५०० स्टुडेंट्स एवं २८०० लोग एडमिनिस्ट्रेटिव स्टाफ में सामिल हें..... केम्पस करीब २५० हेक्टर की जमीन पर बसा है,,,,यहाँ १५ डिपार्टमेंट्स एवं ५५० लेबोरेट्रीज हैं.....केम्पस में काफी हरियाली है....यहाँ की सेंट्रल लाइब्ररी विस्वसनीय है... प्लेसमेंट्स की यदि बात की जाय,,तो यहाँ देस-विदेस की प्रख्यात कंपनियां आकर्सित आफ़र ले के आती हें... तकरीबन ३४% लोग प्योर साईंस में रिसर्च का कार्य करते हें...आई.टी के क्सेत्र में आई.आई.टी मद्रास ने काफी उचाइयां छुई हें.. भारत में यहाँ पहला संस्थान होगा जिसमे सॉफ्टवेर देवेलोप्मेंट एंड सालुसनस में मेहेत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया......
मेरा मित्र सुदेस...जो तीन वर्स पूर्व ही आई.आई. मद्रास से एम्.टेक कर के निकला है...अपने सब्दो में आई.आई.टी. मद्रास में बिताए पलों को बयाँ करता हे.....
"The taxi entered the gates of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The driver headed towards the Gajendra circle, and I was seated in the backseat, staring out of the window. Just looking around, a strange current flowing through my body……Yes I had arrived!! As a youngster, getting here had always been my dream and today here I was…..There are some moments in life, very few of them which can’t be expressed in words. It can only be felt. The feeling of being at IIT was certainly one of them.Getting to my hostel, setting up my room, meeting new people and before I new it, my first day at IIT was over. Over the next three days we had our formal orientation programme. Brief introductions by our faculty members coupled with a couple of sessions conducted by the people of the industry made it quite interesting. The highlight was the address by the Director of IIT who happens to be one of the most erudite persons I have ever heard speak. He was simply over whelming in his clarity of thought and SPEECH......I was also privileged enough to witness the Convocation ceremony held at the SAC Centre. Listening to the Director and also Mr Ratan Tata was really inspiring. This was followed by an Annual Reunion for DOMS students, a great idea conceived by our HOD. It allowed us to interact with a lot of our seniors who are in the corporate world and get a real feel of the things.Being at IIT is a dream come true and the pressure works on each one here. However harder we study…. The harder WE PARTY!!
